A BROOK THROUGH TIME                             MPEG4 EXCERPT 3 MIN $$$

THEODORE LYMAN III AND RED BROOK.  When Theodore Lyman returned from the American Civil War, he purchased and preserved a brook on old Cape Cod.  Here he fished, studied ecology, and raises trout and other fish.  After three generations of family ownership, Red Brook became the THEODORE LYMAN RESERVE, operated by the Trustees of Reservations, Trout Unlimited and Massachusetts Fish and Game.

The radical performance artist Tami Stewart lives in the music belt near Austin, Texas.  In 2006 she married her longtime consort Eric in an outrageous ceremony and parade.  Friends, especially musicians, came in costume from all over the United States, and the hand-made marriage vows were pronounced under a talking, mounted deer head.  Sincere, sensual, honest and surreal are all adjectives which apply to this funny and challenging event.  Later this unusual girl scout discusses her special merit badges.     2006 (RT 16:00)

MY FRIEND JIM                                     QUICKTIME EXCERPT 2:14 MIN

A portrait of Jim Pilkington, an Englishman who experienced a bitter Second World War, and spent the rest of his life farming, raising dogs, and hunting red deer in the wild mountains of northern Scotland. The film describes a traditional way of life, in daily harmony with the natural world and with gamekeepers and gillies who still make their living in the moor and forest.     2007 (RT 13:00)

"Distant Shots" concerns the early life of Charles P. Lyman, a Bostonian born in 1912, who grew up to be a sportsman, environmentalist, and a Professor of Biology at Harvard University.  It is composed entirely of found footage shot by himself and his family.  It recalls a vanished life-style, from preparatory school  to the moors of Scotland.      2007 (RT 8:28)
