WALLS      EXCERPT RT 7:00

In the history of art and architecture, walls and their gates are seldom mentioned.

This film visits walls of the world, both great and minor: Hadrian's Wall across Britain; the Great Wall of China; the infamous Berlin Wall; the city walls of Rome, of Dubrovnik in Croatia, and Ston in Montenegro.  Visited also are various citadels in Spain, Sardinia and Scotland, and the landscape wall installation of artist Andy Goldsworthy in the Hudson Valley, New York.

Included are descriptions, use, construction, and especially aesthetics of wall building.

"WALLS" encourages the viewer to travel to -- and savor -- the unique experience of great walls of the world.  Walls are most often useful, but they can also be quite beautiful.    2015 (RT 61:00)

Filmed and Realized by Charles Lyman.      Editing & Sound Design by Peter Melaragno.
